New Name and Identity
In 2026, St Clare’s Taree will celebrate 100 years of Secondary Catholic Education in Taree. It also marks 40 years of the St Clare’s name itself.
It also planned that the name of the school is updated. The proposed new name is St Clare’s Catholic College, Taree.
This is consistent with other Diocesan schools and is reflective of the modern Catholic education approach, to prepare young adults for a fulfilling life post-school.
The new name also prompts appraisal of the centrepiece of the St Clare’s identity – the crest.
In revising the crest, we intend to honour the past while embracing the future
The St Clare’s crest is a symbol of identity, history and faith, a visual reminder of the values and traditions that have shaped the community over time. The design retains key elements that speak to our founding story, preserving the spirit and meaning that generations of students, families and staff have shared.
For more information on our crest and motto read here - www.tareesc.catholic.edu.au/about-us/our-mission-vision-values/crest-motto/.
At the same time, refinements in form, colour, and style will ensure the crest feels contemporary, inclusive and aligned with our school’s vision for the years ahead.
This is not a departure from tradition but a continuation of it, allowing our identity to remain relevant and recognisable for future generations. Carefully blending history with a new design, the proposed crest symbolises our commitment to faith, learning and community, ensuring our story continues to be told with pride and purpose.
